Cuticles are an integral part of our body in a way that they protect the base of a human nail as well as fingers. They not only prevent our body form the attack of germs and bacteria, but they also resist the growth of yeast and fungus on our body. No one in the world like having rugged cuticles as it makes our nails and in turn our hands look rough, ugly and unkempt. The cause of these cracked cuticles is often the long exposure to certain harsh chemicals or lack of moisture. These painful looking and damaged cuticles give an unattractive look to your hands and they are very unhealthy. Hence it is needed to take daily care of these cuticles in order to prevent them from any damage.

Cuticle Care

History of cuticle care- the golden rules

Though the technology has advanced a lot through all these years with the invention of new anti- wrinkle creams and re- growth lotions, yet there has not been much change in the basis of this cuticle care. This forgotten and lonely part of the body, the cuticle remains one of the easiest- to- look- after- part of the body. These care taking options are very simple to do and one does not need to go to any parlour or spa for it. But there are certain rules that must be followed to prevent any harm to the delicate skin of cuticle, like; the cuticles should not be pushed back when they are dry which might cause bleeding. The second rule is you should keep away from sharp metallic objects. It’s not necessary to cut your cuticles by scissors or cutters. It will only damage or infect your cuticle. The third rule is all about moisturising your nails. This is the best way to keep your cuticle out of any danger. Follow these rules, and no doubt you will have beautiful and healthy cuticles.

Different methods of cuticle care-

There are numerous simple ways to care for your cuticles without any complexity and it takes no extra time either. Some of the best methods to keep your cuticles healthy are- applying moisturiser after washing hands, never use nail paint remover in excess (it dries up the nails), must use protective gloves during any household treatments like bleach etc., never bite your cuticles, vitamin E is the water for our cuticles as it provides nourishment to the body part, Shea butter is a good moisturiser for the cuticles, there are a number of cuticle care creams available in the market in cream, oil or wax base and they provide the necessary nourishment and moisture to the nails and after their application, the cuticles can be easily pushed back for preventing further growth. Once these cuticles are softened, regularly maintaining them would be easy and they won’t crack again. Trimmers can be used to cut out the extra dead cuticle, but with care that it does not reach the inner part of the nails and then the cuticle could be easily pushed back. These are some ways to protect your cuticles, soaking them, pushing them and applying lotions to give the best cuticle care for healthy, strong and pretty nails.
